trades

i've made a lot of trades this year, some good, some bad.

04/19
freel for towers and baez
B-
towers has been horrible so far. baez is a good reliever. freel wouldn't have played much on my team, so it didn't hurt much to lose him.

04/22
nate robertson and david eckstein for shawn green.
C-
nate robertson has apparently learned to pitch this year, and eckstein has more runs created than shawn green. crap.

04/25
jamie moyer for haren, wilkerson, duchschurer, and prospect larry broadway.
A
a great trade, especially since it gives me haren next year for less than two bucks, it'd be an a+ if i hadn't had to take on so much salary.

05/01
garret anderson for shannon stewart
B
had to dump some salary.

05/06
brandon phillips and wilkerson for soriano.
A-
good trade, but wilkerson's improving and phillips may have a good season.

05/11
soriano for josh barfield's five year contract
C+
matsui got injured. the division leader got a ridiculous trade for brad penny. i wanted my mommy. i made this deal for the future. hopefully barfield will be worth $15 over five years.

14% through the season??? simple hitters projections

that's about right and i'm not that excited about the team right now. While Ortiz, Cabrera and Felipe Lopez are cruising, Teixeira and Pierre started slow, Polanco has only one extra base hit and one walk (yes, all he hits are singles and his BA=SLG=OBP, practically). Injuries robbed me of Crisp and Kinsler...oh well, my pitching was the best in the league as of yesterday. Good enough for 7th place and 90 points back...

i need to get a middle infielder to sub for hardy or polanco...

Ortiz, David DH BOS 648
Nevin, Phil 1B TEX 592
Lopez, Felipe SS CIN 520
Cabrera, Miguel M. LF FLA 591
Teixeira, Mark 1B TEX 465
Nady, Xavier RF NYM 457
Pierre, Juan CF CHC 412
Johjima, Kenji C SEA 304
Hardy, J.J. SS MIL 277
Polanco, Placido 2B DET 263
Kinsler, Ian 2B TEX 162
Crisp, Coco CF BOS 113

2006 keepers, etc.

17 days til the rook2 draft.

who to keep for this season? ortiz, teixeira and cabrera are musts. pedro is too, even with the toe problem, as i read somewhere, his resting now will pay off for his arm later in the season.

that leaves the last spot open for adam dunn or felipe lopez or to drop them both and have replace them with a draft pick. i'm leaning towards lopez, cuz there are plenty of hitters and i think all the infielders better than lopez will be kept.

i have two other teams this year. we've got a slow draft going in one, and an auction draft is supposed to be starting today in the other.

about halfway

keepers:
teixeira, nice.
cabrera , solid.
pedro, wow.
(my droppers, guillen: good idea, harden: good pitcher got injured, mulder: having a disappointing year)

picks:
ortiz, good pick.
chavez, i dropped chavez after two crappy months...the next week he had 42 fantasy points...
kerry wood got injured.
dunn's done okay, as expected lots of homers, lots of strikeouts.
vidro started hot then got injured and i dropped him.
piazza wasn't a great next pick, but he's done okay.
miles didn't work out.
burnett, good pick.
bartlett, remember him?
webb, nice pick.
bagwell...gone.
foulke. gone.
crosby injured, dropped, now on fire.
escobar gone.
preston wilson gone.

draft score: 9 dropped, 6 kept...

it appears i had a fairly bad draft, and perhaps now the ship has finally been righted???

my better pickups:
biggio, good old guy, finally qualified for MI again.
floyd, good old guy.
stewart, not that old .
f lopez, having a breakout season...
hermanson, decent reliever, lots of save opps.
l castillo, good enough.
freel, finally qualified for MI.
haren, hopefully a good 4th or 5th starter.

hopefully with haren and wood's return, i finally have a pitching staff...
